The booking options are the point. A licensed guide accompanies the group on the guided option; an audio-guided option gives you the commentary through the operator's own app, which means you need your phone and your own headphones — they are not supplied. Both formats travel on the same coach and see the same three châteaux, and the price gap between them is the whole decision.

The running order puts Chenonceau first, then Cheverny — the 17th-century house with the furnished interiors that Hergé drew as Marlinspike Hall in the Tintin books — and finishes at Chambord. Free time for lunch is at either Chenonceau or Chambord, and lunch is not included except in winter on one option.

Two operating quirks matter before you book. On Mondays and Saturdays in summer the itinerary swaps Chambord for the Château Royal d'Amboise, so if Chambord is the reason you are going, avoid those departures. And there is no hotel pickup on this tour — the sister tour with hotel transfers is a separate, dearer listing.
