"We had a great time exploring the Chateaux of the Loire Valley. As a family traveling with three children, I appreciated the flexibility of the tour. The ride was comfortable and we had a lot of fun."

How Private Pricing Works
Every private Loire tour here quotes a group price. Divide before you compare, because the headline figures are not per person.
Read the Cap, Not the Price
Each listing states a party size: up to three, up to two, up to eight. The quoted figure covers the whole party, and GetYourGuide labels it 'per group' beside the price.
Divide by Your Actual Party
$1,090 for three is about $363 each — the same bracket as a small-group minivan. The same figure for one traveller is not. The caps here are 1, 2, 3 and 8, with nothing in between.
Add What You Would Have Paid Anyway
Entry tickets to three châteaux and hotel pickup at both ends are included. On the shared tours those are either extra or absent.
Then Price the Flexibility
A private car leaves when you are ready and waits when you are not. On a thirteen-hour day with five and a half hours of driving, that is the part people actually buy.

When a Private Loire Tour Is Actually Cheaper
The headline numbers on this page look alarming. Divided by a real party size, two of them are competitive and one is not.
Five Loire tours leaving Paris are priced per group rather than per person, and their headline figures — $1,090, $1,548, $1,836, $2,754 — make the page look far more expensive than it is. Every one of those numbers covers a whole party. Before you compare anything, divide.
The per-group listings and what they work out at
| Listing | Covers | Price | Per head if full |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private car, Chambord + Chenonceau + Cheverny | up to 3 | $1,090 | about $363 |
| Coach booked whole, three châteaux | up to 8 | $2,754 | about $344 |
| VIP private, three châteaux | up to 2 | $1,836 | about $918 |
| Three châteaux + Champagne | up to 1 | $1,548 | $1,548 |
Only the first of those is competitive. $363 a head sits inside the small-group band, which runs $281 to $373 per person. The bottom two do not come close for a couple, and the cap-8 coach needs a full party of eight to reach $344 — still above the $281 minibus that visits the same three châteaux.
Notice the gap. The party caps in this catalogue are 1, 2, 3 and 8. There is nothing for four, five, six or seven travellers except the cap-8 coach, which costs a party of four $688 a head and a party of six $459. So the rule is narrower than it usually is elsewhere: three is the only party size at which a private Loire day from Paris is price-competitive. At every other size you are buying exclusivity and flexibility rather than a better rate — which is a perfectly good reason, as long as you know that is the purchase.
What the $1,090 private day actually includes
Hotel pickup and drop-off at your Paris address, a dedicated vehicle for up to three, entry tickets to Chambord, Chenonceau and Cheverny, and audio guides at the châteaux. Lunch is free time at Chenonceau or Chambord and is not included.
Note the guide arrangement, because it is the thing people assume wrongly: the Includes box lists audio guides, not a licensed guide. The driver handles the route and the logistics; the château interiors are yours to walk with a device. If you want a human historian in the rooms, that is a different product — see guided versus self-guided, and expect to pay for it separately.
What the listing does have, and what often justifies a private booking on its own, is language. It is offered in twelve: French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The shared coaches run in ten at most and the minivans in one to three.
The flexibility is the real product
A shared Loire day is a fixed sequence: 75 minutes here, an hour there, back on the coach. A private day is not. If Chenonceau turns out to be the one you want and Cheverny is not, you can spend the afternoon at Chenonceau. If a five-year-old needs the day to end early, it ends early. On a thirteen-hour trip with five and a half hours of driving, being able to reallocate the other seven and a half is what you are buying.
That is also why private tours suit families with young children better than the shared alternatives. Several of the small-group minivans set a minimum age of 6, and the coaches require you to bring your own child restraint because the vehicles have no ISOFIX anchor points. A private car sidesteps both by arrangement with the operator.
Before you book a private Loire tour
Check the party cap against your actual group — “up to 3” and “up to 8” are very different products at similar per-head prices. Check whether hotel pickup is included at both ends; one popular per-group listing includes pickup only on its private options. And check whether lunch is included, because on every private tour here it is not.
If your party is two, compare honestly against the small-group minivans at $281–$373 per person with hotel pickup — the minivans cap at seven, which is not a crowd, and $545 a head for the private car is a real premium. If your party is three, the private car is the one to book. If your party is four to seven, there is no private listing that fits you: the cap-8 coach is your only option and it costs more per head than a shared minivan, so book it for the privacy or book the minivan. Check availability — free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

What Private-Tour Guests Say
Ratings and review counts are the tour operators' live figures on GetYourGuide and may shift slightly day to day.
"The private tour is great for those who want to explore on their own without a larger group. While there is a schedule to keep you on time, you don't have to worry about a large group of other people making you wait or disturbing your experience. We had a great experience. it was also very convenient being picked up and dropped off at our our door."
"I booked a private tour because my elderly parents were with me. We walked around the castle, but we were able to get on and off as close as possible, so it was physically comfortable. The driver drove safely, and we had a good time. Thank you very much."

Private Loire Valley Tours from Paris — Questions Travellers Ask
Per-group pricing, what is included, and the party size at which a private car starts winning.
From $1,090 for a party of up to three, which is about $363 each. Other private listings quote $1,836 for up to two, $1,548 for a single traveller, and $2,754 for a coach booked whole for up to eight. Every one of those figures is per group, not per person — GetYourGuide labels it that way beside the price.
It depends entirely on your party size. At three travellers, $1,090 works out near $363 each, which sits inside the small-group band of $281 to $373 per person. At two it is $545 each; at one it is $1,090. Three is in fact the only competitive size here: the party caps in this catalogue are 1, 2, 3 and 8, so a party of four to seven has only the cap-8 coach, at $688 a head for four and $459 for six.
Hotel pickup and drop-off at your Paris address, a dedicated vehicle for up to three people, entry tickets to Chambord, Chenonceau and Cheverny, and audio guides at the châteaux. Lunch is not included — you get free time for it at Chenonceau or Chambord.
Not on the $1,090 listing. Its Includes box lists audio guides rather than a licensed guide: the driver handles the route and the logistics, and you walk the interiors with a device. If you want a human historian in the rooms, the format comparison shows which tours provide one.
The classic three — Chambord, Chenonceau and Cheverny — on the $1,090 listing, with entry tickets to all three. Because the day is yours, the operator can adjust the balance between them; that flexibility is a large part of what a private booking buys.
On the $1,090 private car, yes, both ways — collection and return at your Paris address. On the per-group coach for up to eight, pickup is included only on its private options, so read which option you are buying.
Usually. Two of the small-group minivans set a minimum age of 6, and the coaches require you to bring your own child restraint because the vehicles have no ISOFIX anchor points. A private car sidesteps both by arrangement with the operator, and it can end the day early if a child needs it to.
Twelve on the $1,090 listing: French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. That is the widest language roster in this catalogue — the shared coaches run in ten at most and the minivans in one to three, and for many travellers it is the reason to book privately at all.
No, on any of them. Every private listing here gives you free time for lunch at a château or in a nearby town and you pay for it yourself. The tours that include a meal are all shared.
About 12 hours on the $1,090 listing. Because it is private, the timings flex around you rather than around a coach schedule — which on a day that already spends five and a half hours driving is the substance of the product.
Because it covers up to eight people. Filled, that is $344 each — which is still above the $281 shared minibus that visits the same three châteaux, so it is not a saving at any party size. It is a coach booked whole for your party: you are buying the vehicle to yourselves. Read the party cap before the price.
Within reason and by arrangement with the operator. The listings publish a standard route — Chambord, Chenonceau, Cheverny — but a private vehicle has no fixed departure times between stops, so reallocating an afternoon from one château to another is a conversation rather than a problem.
The $1,090 listing states it is not suitable for people with mobility impairments. Château interiors involve stairs and cobbles regardless of how you arrive. If mobility is a concern, contact the operator through GetYourGuide before booking rather than after.
Yes, free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund through GetYourGuide, on every private tour listed here.
